Volunteers at IRWP Mud Creek cleanup February 2009

On June 22 President Obama and EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson announced the national Summer of Service initiative.  EPA's Jackson marked the day by visiting Kansas City and volunteering with local watershed organizations.  They removed trash from the local waters as part of a nationwide movement of service.  Jackson observed "It's inspiring to know that by doing what we can in our local community, we're making a better future for our country."


The IRWP invites you to join us in the Summer of Service initiative by volunteering to join Illinois River Watershed cleanups:

July 10        Illinois River cleanup with Oklahoma Scenic Rivers Commission

August 14   Lake Springdale cleanup

August 18   Mud Creek cleanup


For the July 10 cleanup, reserve your canoe space by Wednesday, July 8 by calling 479-238-4671 or emailing Contact@IRWP.org IRWP carpools are available from Fayetteville and Siloam Springs to the OSRC headquarters in Tahlequah.  Cleanup 10 am to 1 pm.


Lake Springdale cleanup Friday, August 14, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am


Mud Creek cleanup Tuesday, August 18, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am
