Rain barrels can be installed at schools, offices, private residences, and other locations in order to capture and recycle stormwater from roofs. Stormwater harvesting is one form of low-impact development that can green our communities, conserve water, and save money.
This Saturday, April 5, from 10:00 AM until noon, the Illinois River Watershed Partnership will host a Rain Barrel Workshop for the public.  For a fee of $20, participants can learn about the benefits of stormwater harvesting and assemble a rain barrel to take home.
Native tree seedlings will be given away for free.  Participation in Rain Barrel Workshop is not required for giveaway.  Limited number of trees available.
To register for workshop, please visit  http://www.irwp.org/events/rain-barrel-workshop
Greenland High School EAST students will assist participants during the Rain Barrel Workshop.  Check out these photos of some of their recent community projects!
