The IRWP is hosting a public meeting where researchers from Arkansas and Oklahoma will present the latest water-quality findings from the 2014 Illinois River Symposium.
Presenters are Dr. Brian E. Haggard, director of the Arkansas Water Resources Center at the University of Arkansas, and Dr. Garey A. Fox, director of the Oklahoma Water Resources Center at Oklahoma State University.
“The 2014 Illinois River Symposium was unique, bringing together universities, state agencies and stakeholders from both states, and the common goal was to set priorities for research and extension needs within this important watershed,” Haggard said.
“We know that phosphorus in the Illinois River has decreased dramatically since 2002, when effluent phosphorus was reduced,” Haggard said. “And we expect to see phosphorus continue to decline in Flint Creek, too.”
