Be An IRWP StreamTeam Member
What Is It?
An IRWP StreamTeam Member is a dedicated volunteer interested in improving our watershed. You’ll join a team and adopt one of 37 sites in the upper Illinois River Watershed. Together your team will collect four water samples from September through May and deliver the samples to the UAWRC (University of Arkansas Water Resources) lab for analysis.
Who Can Be An IRWP StreamTeam Member?
A StreamTeam Member can be an individual, family, school, organization or business.
How Do I Become A StreamTeam Member?
The IRWP is organizing 37 Illinois River Watershed StreamTeams. To become a StreamTeam Member click here for the volunteer form. For more information, contact IRWP at 479.238.4671 or email streamteam@irwp.org to sign up.
What Do I Do?
Together an IRWP StreamTeam will collect 4 samples to test water quality from September 2008 to May 2009 from their adopted stream.
Will You Train Me?
The IRWP and Arkansas Water Resources Center will train volunteers at Lake Wedington on September 13, 2008. Training sessions will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. 4:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. 10-15 volunteers can sign up for the 30 minute training sessions prior to the Lake Wedington event or can sign up the day of the event at the lake.
Training can also take place at the adopted watershed site and through asking questions by calling or emailing IRWP at 479.238.4671 or email streamteam@irwp.org.

Where Does My Team Get Samples From?
Choose from 37 site locations in the upper Illinois River Watershed. Stream names can be used to identify your StreamTeam.

When Does My Team Take Samples From Our Adopted Stream?
Target dates for taking samples are September, December, March ‘09 and May ‘09.
What Does My Team Do With The Samples?
You will take your samples to the UA Water Resources Center lab within 24 hours after retrieving the sample.

Why Is This Important?
The purpose of water quality monitoring in the watershed is to identify opportunities for streambank stabilization projects and to identify water quality conditions. With your help we can monitor all the streams. That means you’re a hero to the watershed!
