Big Bluestem Harvest

The prairie harvest has begun! Audubon Arkansas was on the campus of John Brown University harvesting Big Bluestem seed from a 7.5 acre remnant prairie. Local farmers will grow out and harvest this perennial prairie grass seed, then sell it to Roundstone Native Seed to be used in conservation projects throughout the state. This remnant prairie at JBU has been protected and restored as a part of IRWP’s Riparian Restoration Program.
