Pasture Protection at the Phillips

Jared and Lindi Phillips are raising their three children on a hilltop farm above the Muddy Fork of the Illinois River. Their old John Deere tractor gets plenty of use around the place, but Jared and Lindi’s true love is a handsome team of Percherons. The Phillips use draft horses to rake hay, plow the garden, and skid logs for firewood.

IRWP’s Riparian Restoration Program provided 75% cost share for Jared and Lindi to build cross-fence and install three livestock waterers to better manage the pastures where they graze their Cheviot and Gulf Coast Native sheep and Belted Galloway Cattle.
